The WBHI License Plate Voucher Program was also presented
The Zonta Club of Miami Lakes held a ceremony to initiate new zister, Gwen Wood, this month. This celebratory gathering was held at the Pampered Chef Restaurant in Miami Lakes. Gwen was welcomed by all ZCML members and her sponsoring zister (and next door neighbor) Dionne Stephens.
We also learned about the new specialty license plate benefiting the Women's Breast & Heart Initiative (WBHI), to provide increased education and awareness relating to early detection, prevention, and screening of breast and heart issues. The beautiful hues of teal and orange and the silhouettes represent the vibrancy of Florida –all of us moving together towards disease prevention & early detection. At this point, 3,000 pre-sale vouchers must be sold for the license plate to move to production. The cost for the new plate is only $30 and can be purchased on the WBHI website linked here.
Based in Miami Lakes and headed by Andrea Ivory- a breast cancer survivor, WBHI Founder and sole officer- WBHHI was established in 2005 with a single goal of providing at-risk women access to early detection and proper treatment for breast cancer. WBHI created a unique, door-to-door neighborhood outreach program that increases awareness of breast health and the importance of early detection, as well as providing access to mammograms for women who are uninsured and underserved by the health care system. The ZCML has been a long time sponsor and supporter of WBHI initiatives.
