Chairwoman of Elderly Affairs Committee of Miami Lakes recognized for her tireless work
This year the ZCML honored Ms. Dottie Wix for her tireless work giving back to the Town of Miami Lakes. Ms. Wix is currently the Chairwoman of the The Elderly Affairs Committee for the Town. This committee was created to identify the needs of the Elderly residents in Miami Lakes. The Committee focuses on the development of programs serving the elderly, such as the Senior Health and Wellness Fair, Community Forums, and Social Events. Ms. Wix has been at the forefront of these efforts and may other volunteer activities in the community for several years.
The Community Heroine Award is given to a member of our community has engaged in service that supports the lives of women and girls. These are the women who dedicate their time to making sure that the communities that we live in are a safer, and more equitable place for the future generations. This is our club's opportunity to recognize women who empower, inspire and work towards women's equity. Each year's recipeient selects a charity that they would like the Zonta Club of Miami Lakes to make a $500 donation. Ms. Wix is dedicating her honor to the Town of Miami Lakes Elderly Affairs Committee.
